CHOOSE THEM!
Dear People,
A punch line : You aren’t going to make everyone happy in this life.Because you cannot. Don’t let this line instill guilt or disappointment in you.As children,as parents,as spouses,as professionals,as educators , we try and do our best everyday in every role we play. Yet someone is left unhappy somewhere. Never mind that.
But if you are a parent ,please take time to read the below.
We attend every office call – trying to make office happy : We heed to mothers and fathers and in-laws – trying to keep family happy : We talk,fight and negotiate with our spouse – trying to keep the marriage happy. We go at lengths on calls or on roads for friends – trying to keep friendship going ….and then there are people ,whom we exercise authority upon, to whom we make many excuses of time and work ,whom we entertain and observe as per our convenient schedule and whom we believe are the reason why we work and think so hard everyday – They are our growing up children.But do we take enough “sensory ” efforts to keep our children happy???
Children (even teenagers)need frequent, undivided and genuine attention every single day. There is no substitute for those moments that make a child feel loved, valued, and worthy. Children immediately find out when parents pretend to be listening to them while checking their phones or watching a screen. Over a period of time, such mindless responses from parents leads to low self esteem, low self confidence and behavioral issues in children. There are some REAL SIMPLE MINDFUL THINGS PARENTS CAN DO
Switch off the TV, shut off the computer and keep aside the phone when your child is talking to you.
There is no fire anywhere(other than in our children’s hearts)….so take that call another time, and keep that mail pending till your child is done with the essential dose of your company.
Never give them a feeling that they are the last people on Earth you wish to communicate with.When they approach you for the silliest or the brightest conversation,CHOOSE THEM.
Everyone else will live and work without our presence,but for our growing up children.
Its the QUALITY of time spent not the QUANTITY : So…..BE THERE
